- Juneteenth. Racial Justice Committee (RJC) and Kensington Historical Society (KHS) are proud to work together to preserve and celebrate the rich and diverse history of Kensington and its surrounding communities. Through their partnership, they support inclusive community events that honor the past while building a more just and connected future. One such event is the Kensington Juneteenth Celebration, which commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and highlights Black history, culture, and resilience. RJC and KHS, along with the Kensington Juneteenth Planning Committee, collaborate to ensure the event is both educational and empowering, bringing communities together to reflect, learn, and celebrate through music, storytelling, exhibits, and community engagement.
