Nostalgia is not always what it seems. Gifford’s Ice Cream was beloved by millions for generations. But, behind the sweet memories and the glowing candy counter, through the service entrance and up those haunted, rickety stairs, a family clawed itself to pieces and spent decades tearing down this Washington D.C. legacy.
